Investment Requirements

No minimum investment requirement is specified by the Immigration Department in the application of the entrepreneur visa. Nevertheless, numerous documents (as set out below) shall be made available for inspection. Applicants have to demonstrate to the authority that their businesses are capable of contributing considerably to the Hong Kong economy.

Additionally, applicants who wish to establish or join in a business:

Ability to make substantial contributions to the economy of Hong Kong in consideration of applicant’s business plan, business turnover, financial resources, investment sum, number of jobs created locally and any introduction of new technology or skills

Whereas, applicants who wish to establish or join in a start-up business:
​

The applicant is a proprietor or partner of the start-up company, or a key researcher of a relevant project
-
The start-up business concerned is supported by a government-backed programme with rigorous vetting and selection process

Documents Required
Basic documents to be submitted for consideration include, but not limited to:

Completed application form

Photocopy of applicant’s HKID, proof of academic qualifications, financial standing and recent photograph
-
Detailed 2-year investment plan containing details of proposed business activities, amount of investment, creation of local job positions and etc.

Proof of the company’s business activities, financial standing, employment contracts, tenancy agreements, documents filed with Companies Registry and etc. (if applicable)
-
Letter indicating valid support by government-backed programme (if applicable)
Additional documents may be required on a case-by-case basis depending on the identity of the applicant and the nature of its business.

Apart from that, a local sponsor, either a company or an individual, is needed for the applicant’s entrepreneur visa application. Relevant documents shall be submitted as proof of sponsors.Entry of dependents

Applicants admitted for investment may bring along their spouse and unmarried dependent children under the age of 18, subject to the satisfaction of the following criteria:

Proof of genuine relationship between the dependent and the applicant;

No known record to the detriment of the dependent; and
-
Ability of the applicant to support the dependent’s living at a standard above subsistence level and provide such dependent with suitable accommodation in Hong Kong
Approved dependents could then take up employment or education in Hong Kong with their length of stay linked to that of the applicant.

Procedures and Timeline

Upon receipt of all documents, a period of 4 weeks is required for processing the investment visa application. Visa fee should be paid at the time of collection of the investment visa. An initial stay of 24 months will be granted if the application is approved and extension of stay is possible subject to meeting the above eligibility criteria continuously.
